Small glass extension project in Wakefield
Even a small glass extension can make a big difference to your home! This modern extension is just 3.5 metres wide and 1.3 metres deep (a total 4.5 square metres) and yet has totally transformed this family home in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
The property's owners were looking to remodel the separate kitchen and dining room to create a large kitchen diner that would act as the hub of their home. The first step was to remove the internal dividing wall between the two rooms, and replace and reconfigure the kitchen units.
The icing on the cake was the installation of a custom-made Solarlux Wintergarden glazed extension to replace the original outdated porch with French doors at the rear of the house.
The addition of an all-glass extension floods the newly refurbished dining kitchen with natural light and offers lovely views across the garden. The result is a light and cosy space that the whole family can enjoy for years to come.

The products
The homeowners chose an Akzent Plus Solarlux Wintergarden with a glass roof at a 14 degree pitch. The Akzent Plus is our most popular glass extension because of its elegant and simple appearance, as well as its flexibility of design.
The extension featured three-pane Highline bi-folding doors along its length and matching Highline shaped windows at both sides, all in Anthracite Grey (RAL7016) textured aluminium which is also scratch resistant. SKN 165 solar control glass was used throughout, and lights were installed in the rafters to offer illumination during the evenings.
This bespoke glass extension was custom made in Germany and fitted to perfection by our in-house team of Solarlux-trained installers.

We ordered a Solarlux Wintergarden from Reveal and have been very happy with the product. Indeed it has changed the way we use the space at the back of the house and we use the garden far more frequently. The installation team worked hard to install the Wintergarden on time and without any issues. They recently completed a complementary 12 month check which included checking everything over, cleaning out the guttering and spraying silicon on some moving parts. Sonia and the team kept us informed throughout the whole process. We would suggest that you and/or your builder are clear on the technical aspects of the installation to ensure that everything is in order for Reveal to carry out the installation. This is likely to involve you and/or your contractor and possibly other advisors such as structural engineers working with Reveal.
